IYSF Support for Athlete Development Programme

Inverurie Youth Sports Foundation are delighted to be one of the funders of the new and exciting Athlete Development Programme (ADP). The ADP has been established to support promising athletes reach the level where they can be considered for the sportscotland institute of sport (SIS).

SIS provides high-performance leadership and expertise to sports and athletes throughout Scotland and the UK, responding to the challenging demands of performing on the international stage. The ADP is a programme where athletes are nominated by their national governing body of Sport for selection onto the programme. Each year around 30 athletes will receive weekly strength & conditioning sessions as well as workshops on topics that will help them face the demands of competing at the top level. Ali Bell, Assistant Regional Performance Manager commented “by providing support at a younger age, these athletes will be better prepared for competing internationally in the future”

Inverurie Youth Sports Development Office Claire McDonald said “this is exactly the kind of programme we like to support. The programme directly supports the development of young athletes giving them a better chance of future success” The programme has brought partners from both Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire together to ensure there is a sustainable programme delivered for many year to come.
