Inverurie Youth Sports Foundation (IYSF) is pleased to support the Alford based snow sports club G*Snow in purchasing new downhill timing equipment to support up-and-coming young skiers and snowboarders.
Based at the Alford dry ski slope, the recently formed G*Snow club, was in desperate need to have Brower timing systems on the slopes to help skiers and snowboarders as they prepare for competition. With the new equipment, G*Snow can provide each with an electronic record of their downhill time, with the data easily shared via an app each sportsperson can track their achievement.
G*Snow had applied to IYSF for financial support to help purchase the much-needed equipment. The IYSF were pleased to be able to help the club to buy it, which they feel will be of great benefit to young skiers and snowboarders and can only help improve their competitive performance.
Callum Scott, G*Snow Chairman, said: "The club was established 18 months ago and as such, we were not in a position to be able to invest in this type of equipment. We were pleased that IYSF donated the funds for us to purchase it. Having this equipment will help our coaches to better support young sportspersons in improving their performance."
G*Snow supports people of all ages and can be found at the dry slope in Alford. The dry slope has already supported two skiers to compete internationally, and the club aims to encourage more young people into snow sports by way of coaching and developing either their skiing or snowboarding skills.
